It has
been my good fortune to be associated with RCC Institute of
Information Technology ( RCCIIT) as its Principal since its
inception on 7th September, 1999. To my mind RCCIIT
has some very unique features which make this college
considerably different from the others. Let me try to list a
few of them in what follows.
(1)
First of all , RCCIIT is an
Engineering College which is focused on Information Technology.
(2)
It was set up by a society which
did pioneering work in the field of Computer Science and
Technology in this region for more than three decades . This
society had earned excellence, specially in the realm of
Computer Education & Training and also for acting as a bridge
between the Industry and Academic Institutes since its
inception.
(3)
It is managed by an autonomous
society of the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal.
Thus it has the stability of a Government Institute along with
the flexibility of a Private Organization.
(4)
The Management believes in all
round development of the students and realize that the four
years that they spend in the college are their preparatory time
for facing the World. Along with their academic work the
students must learn to exercise their own options during this
time. So we try to guide them without being too harsh and try
to bring out their creativity because in IT one has to learn to
be original without using the ‘Rote Method ‘.

From the beginning RCCIIT
encouraged the participation of students in the day to day
activities of the institute . The students publish a monthly
newsletter called ‘Wassup’ which prints the Campus news and
distributes it to all the students. They take part in decisions
regarding the Library , Canteen, Sports Activity , Fests and
they even maintain our website.

The Faculty members of RCCIIT
consist of the very best and are always eager to help and
support the students. Apart from teaching the required classes
they take part in all the student activities and maintains a
maximum level of faculty student interaction.
(7)
The Faculty are highly motivated
and while pursuing academic research work on their own they help
the students with Special projects, Summer camps, Personality
Development Programmes etc throughout the Semester and during
the Recess periods.
( 8) The other staff
members of RCCIIT are also thoroughly motivated and gives total
support to the students and Faculty members .
As I said at the
beginning of this discourse , it has been my greatest good
fortune to work with such a set of students, faculty members and
staff to try to take RCCIIT to greater glory—onwards – ad
infinitum .
